Who We Are

We are a Houston-based, professional theatre company. 

We work with scripts that are beautifully written, unique, and communicate well.   We hope to perform entertaining and inspiring plays that are minimal in set and heavy on character and character-driven direction. We strive to provide a professional theatre experience based on New York standards, talent and training giving our audiences that unique off-off Broadway experience.

How We Got Started

With a propensity for Edgar Allan Poe, the poetry of a pendulum's swing, and New York training, the Pendulum Theatre Company was founded. In 2006 with their inaugural production and Houston premiere of Rebecca Gilman's, Boy Gets Girl, Pendulum gave the Houston theatre community a taste of what this new company was to bring: a sense of humor, a sense of grit, and a professional execution.

With Houston's press and acclaim, Pendulum started its elusive, yet determined progression into Houston's art community. 

And now, in our 6th season, it is a continued pleasure to be a major part of Houston's eclectic and ever-growing arts scene.

Holly Vogt Wilkison

Artistic Director

Holly Vogt Wilkison... is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Pendulum Theatre Company. She has been performing on, and working with the stage for more than 25 years. Her extensive training includes her studies towards her BFA in Drama from Syracuse University's School of Visual and Performing Arts, and her further studies at the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.

         Her credits range the spectrum from choreography to direction to acting, and has been a writer from the beginning.  Writing credits include everything from poetry to film scripts to scripts for corporate video as well as full-length plays for both interactive and the legitimate theatre.  Her writing has received several awards for both ads and video scripts in the corporate setting as well as her creative concepts for various companies.

        Having lived in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, Holly has developed a taste for fun and perfection when it comes to executing a good script. Her standards are always measured by those she experienced while in New York and she continues to look for true talent.

Holly continues to look for intriguing plays for production with The Pendulum Theatre Company and is currently finishing the writing on her 7th play for the stage. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Inc.

Houston Hayes

Managing Director 

Houston Hayes... has been a fixture in the Houston theatre scene for more than a decade. Whether it has been acting or directing He has managed to have a hand in many successful productions. Houston joined Pendulum in 2007 with the production of Hooters and has stuck around ever since. He became Managing Director in 2009. As Managing Director he works closely with the creative team to bring their artistic visions to life.

Beth Delozier-Hayes

Promotions Director

Beth Delozier-Hayes.....  is a long way from her hometown of Silver Spring, Maryland, but is proud to call Houston her new home.  She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Clemson University, and an M.F.A. in Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi.  For the last decade Beth has been performing on stage, in film, and numerous commercials.  When she is off stage, Beth is the president of Trés Chic Designs, a home staging, personal styling, and professional organizing firm.
